Letter to Surrey Advertiser
Yesterday afternoon (Friday 22nd) my wife and I took two and three quarter hours from 3.45pm to travel across town and back to pick up our daughter who, laden like the proverbial packhorse, could not easily have walked. With the benefit of hindsight, we could have walked and, between the three of us, carried her heavy musical instrument, lunch bag, school bag and games kit bag from school to home and saved about three hours! (what a wonderful thing hindsight is!).
The previous evening, leaving the Chester area at just before five, I took only an hour more than this to get home to Guildford, and we all know which journey represents the greatest emissions of greenhouse gases per mile! Congestion is the enemy of the planet and contrives to rob us all of time.
